Interested in helping at the State Fair?

Who can apply? Wisconsin youth entering 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th or 13th grade.
What would I do? Assist the State Fair Day Camp staff with Camp operations by joining the State Fair Camp Counselor Team. Counselors will enhance leadership skills, strengthen communication skills, and gain confidence by leading ice breakers, mentoring campers and assisting Camp staff in a fun filled atmosphere.
When am I needed? Mandatory face-to-face training: Thursday, August 3rd – 3 to 7 pm.
Counselor Camp dates: Friday, August 4 and Saturday, August 5, 2017. Additional counselor opportunities available.
What’s the cost? No fees required. Lodging and meals in the Tommy G. Thompson Center provided from Thursday evening through Saturday evening.
How can I apply? Application and Self-Assessment must be submitted directly to Wisconsin State Fair by June 9, 2017.
Local educator reference must be submitted directly to Wisconsin State Fair by June 9, 2017.
What happens next? Approximately 24 camp counselors (12 male and 12 female) will be selected for the 2017 State Fair Day Camp Counselors. Applicants will receive notification of status and additional camp details in early July. Applicants with prior Wisconsin State Fair Day Camp Counselor experience will be given preference.

Get Involved

  • There are  4-H Activities at the club, county, state and national level. All levels have a variety of projects and events. Youth an adults can get involved at any level in a variety of ways, depending on your interest and available time. For more information, contact the 4-H Agent at the Jefferson County UW-Extension Office at 920-674-7295.
  • Get involved in the 4-H Leaders’ Association.
  • Give to the 4-H Endowment Fund.
