Become a Master Gardener

To become a certified Master Gardener Volunteer, you must first attend the 12 week General Master Gardener Training.  The general training covers  basic horticultural topics and teaches participants how to educate others about horticulture.

Once the training is complete, the Master Gardener is asked to give back 24 hours of community volunteer hours, educating the public about horticulture.  Volunteer hours can be done in a variety of ways, from maintaining public gardens that educate the public on how to design and manage landscape plants to giving presentations to new gardeners.

The next general Master Gardener Training will begin in September of 2012.  Until then, interested individuals are encouraged to attend monthly Master Gardener meetings and/or educational events so they can get to know our organization.  If you would like more information or would like to have a Master Gardener contact you, contact Judy Statz, program assistant at the  Jefferson County UW-Extension:
